Havneby lies at the southern tip of the Danish island of Rømø. The island is about an hour‘s drive by car from the German-Danish border, and is connected to the mainland by a causeway that is free of charge. Find more information about Havneby and your journey here.

The journey lasts approximately one hour. Please pay attention to the speed limits of 130 kmph on motorways and 80 kmph on ordinary roads when driving through Denmark. The use of the causeway on to Rømø is free of charge. You can find detailed directions to the port in Havneby here.

Yes. There are several parking areas available around the ferry terminal in Havneby. Please note: The areas belong to different property owners, so different rules and zone codes apply depending on the specific spot—even if the parking spaces are right next to each other. The signage at your specific parking space always takes precedence.

For paid parking spaces, the following rates apply per hour or part thereof:

Yes. In a vehicle registered in Germany, you may use an approved German parking disc. Please place only one parking disc in a clearly visible location behind the windshield and set it to your actual arrival time.

Yes, long-term parking is available in the paid parking areas. There is a maximum charge of 100 DKK per day or 600 DKK per week. Be sure to book your parking for the entire duration. The parking areas are not monitored.

RV parking is permitted daily between 6:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on the harbor grounds (area code 4725). RV parking is not permitted on the grounds between midnight and 6:00 a.m. For overnight stays, please use one of the campgrounds on Rømø.

The parking areas at Rømø Harbor are not operated by FRS Syltfähre. Gardian A/S is responsible for managing the parking facilities. Sylt has excellent facilities for campers. There are seven campsites spread across the North Sea island. Almost all of the campsites on Sylt are situated close to the beach and surrounded by idyllic dunes.
