LIST AUF SYLT - North Sea resort
Our destination port, the North Sea resort of List auf Sylt, celebrates its 725th anniversary in 2017! List, as Germany’s northernmost town, is a member of the ‘Zipfelbund’, which links together the most northerly, westerly, easterly and southerly points in Germany.
The association Sylter Unternehmer (‘Sylt Entrepreneurs’) is a competence network with 500 members, making it northern Germany’s largest optional association of freelancers and executive employees.
Jürgen Gosch opened his first stall selling fish in List’s port in 1972. Now, alongside fish, ‘Jünne’ also sells wine, books and plush lobsters. Branches of GOSCH are to be found on Sylt, of course, but also on Rügen, Norderney, various towns and cities in Germany from Flensburg to Munich, as well as on board cruise ships.
The association of Schleswig-Holstein hotels and restaurant is committed to creating and securing jobs, as well as a wide-ranging selection of apprenticeships and training opportunities.
Since 1888, the SVG has connected all of Sylt’s settlements, and each year carries Sylt residents and visitors across approximately 1.5 kilometres of the island. The fleet includes everything from a historical island railway to modern electric buses with WiFi.
The “Erlebniszentrum Naturgewalten” in List’s port offers young and old a playful and educational glimpse into the beauty and diversity of the sea, as well as its plants and animals. Reachable on foot from the ferry.
